Receptionist and Office Manager

Anne and Ginny

Anne
Hi, I’m Anne and I have been receptionist/office manager at Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital since its opening in 1997.

I have worked in the veterinary field all my adult life. I especially enjoy interacting with our clients and their beloved pets, sharing in the amazing human/animal bond between them.

Currently, I am owned by two active whippets (look like small greyhounds) and am enthusiastic about participating in various sports with them. I am or have been involved in flyball, agility, obedience and conformation showing. My favourite is a sport called Lure Coursing which tests the speed, endurance and agility of sighthound type dogs. I travel all over Ontario and the United States to race my whippets in these meets.

Since whippets have little body fat or hair, they need warm winter coats. I started sewing coats for my own dogs, then had many requests from friends. This has exploded into a mini business and I spend my winter evenings and weekends sewing coats for whippets all over North America, and also for dogs of any breed who would appreciate a warm, cuddly coat. I also sew all the dog bandanas on display at our reception desk, as well as other items of dog apparel.

I look forward to seeing you and hearing about the passion you have for your pets.

Receptionist

Maggie and the boys

Maggie

I started as a part-time kennel attendant and Saturday receptionist at Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital in November 1997. I soon became a full time receptionist. I’d much rather talk about my pets than myself so I’ll introduce you to my family.

First came Fernie, a male Goffins Cockatoo who is a great dancer! Robin is a brown tabby with attitude to spare. Then came ‘the boys’, Siberian Husky brothers-looks, brains, charm, they’ve got it all. Java is a female Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo who is shy but so very sweet. Scout, a female dwarf rabbit, is a regular cutie patuty with the sweetest personality. Then we rescued Boo, a female Brittania Polish Rabbit, from a cat – this may explain her attitude. Finally, the newest additions, Dexter, a male Bengal Cat who has more energy than the energizer bunny and Calvin, a brown tabby cat! And that’s it…for now… If I sound like a doting mother, well, I guess that’s what I am!

When my brood isn’t keeping me busy, my husband Brian, and I enjoy (and I use the term loosely) renovating our home, biking, playing in the snow and portaging.

Technician Assistant and Patient Coordinator

Corinne

I joined Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital in 2005. I graduated from Lawrence College in St. John’s Newfoundland with a diploma in Veterinarian Assistant/Receptionist. I worked at a veterinary hospital in St. John’s for 2 years before moving to Kitchener.

I have 2 great cats in my life: Pepper and Butters. Butters is a female cat that I rescued. We are hoping to add a kitten to our family soon but one that both my cats will like!

I get to meet a lot of great pets here at Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital and enjoy every day working with animals.

Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT)

Courtney

Courtney

I started working at Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital in the fall of 2003 as a part-time kennel attendant and receptionist. I worked at Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital while I finished the Veterinary Technician program at Ridgetown College. I graduated in August 2005. In September of 2005 I was hired on as the full time RVT. I currently live in Kitchener with Sailor  (mastiff x shepherd) and Beep (guinea pig).

Rhianna

I graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2007. I worked at a companion animal hospital as a Registered Animal Health Technician on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where I lived for 20 years.

After moving to Ontario in the summer of 2009, I joined Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital and registered with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians.

I've grown up with cats, fish and horses and now I have a senior calico kitty named Sweets and a spunky Siamese X named Paisley. I fostered Paisley and she ended up taking permanent residency with me.

I enjoy painting and sketching, horseback riding, bike riding, acting as a beach bum, and trying to keep up with my cats.

I look forward to becoming familiar with all the Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital clients and their pets!

Receptionist and Kennel Attendant

Brenda and Peeler

Brenda
Hi, my name is Brenda. I was born in Owen Sound but have lived in the Cambridge area for most of my life. I have enjoyed many different pets including a pot-bellied pig named Teddy.

My passion is horses. I have ridden and shown them successfully for over 40 years. As well as being a competitor, I am also a carded judge and travel most of Ontario from Sarnia to Sault Saint Marie to judge shows. My current mount is Luck’s Shining Star, who is a grandson of Kentucky Derby Winner, Bold Ruler.

I have two grown daughters, Tracy and Becky, who have inherited my love for horses. They are also involved in competing and have been since they were two years old. They often come home with more wins than I do. We have gathered so many wonderful memories over the years travelling and competing together. Becky, and her husband Brett have given me a great gift - two grandsons, Liam James Riley, who is an incredible little man and his younger brother Cooper Patrick Riley.

On the canine side of my life, I have raised Basset Hounds and Jack Russell Terriers. At present, there are three Boxers n my daughter’s lives and they are all very special, with their own personalities. My husband, John, and I are the proud owners of a broken-coated Jack Russell Terrier named Floyd Beanz, who keeps us entertained for hours.

I formerly owned a pet food and supply franchise and was very happy to become a part of Chicopee Hills Animal in 2006.

Animal Care

Rachel

I'm currently attending the University of Guelph for biological sciences. I hope to use this degree towards helping animals, and making a difference.

I've always had animals in my life and knew from an early age that I would one day love to work with them. My first pets were two cats, Mork and Barney. My first dog was Belle - a chocolate lab with a goofy personality and a huge heart! Although she passed away April 2007, her memory and the adventures my family had with her will always be in our hearts. Currently, I live with three cats; Dudley - a grey and white cat who likes to voice his opinion, hold his own, ans is secretly a suck, and Romeo and Milo - black and white brothers who are sweet as can be, gentle and mischievous.

I started working at Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital in late June of 2007 and have enjoyed every experience that has come with it! I love working in an environment where everyone, be it clients or co-workers, have the same love for animals as I do. I'm excited to see what adventures the future holds!

Animal Care

Kaitlyn

I joined the Chicopee Hills team in August 2009 as an animal caretaker and I enjoy every minute with the patients.

I am currently attending high school, but hope to attend the University of Guelph for biological sciences and then become a doctor of veterinary medicine. I hope to someday make a difference in not only the animals' lives, but their families' as well.

I currently live with eight animals. First is our old cat Nala who we've had for many years. Then Colours and Willy came along. They're littermates we adopted from a farm when they were small kittens. We found homes for a family of stray kittens that lived by the Grand River and ended up taking Shadow in. He got his name because he would constantly follow my dad and I around wherever we went. After we got our dog, my boys became part of the family. Teddy and Akon are my skinny pigs (they are like hairless guinea pigs) and they have character and are adorable. Kiara is our bullmastiff - she is brindle and completely gorgeous. And the newest member of the family is Sophia. She is a young golden retriever/black labrador.

I am looking forward to furthering my education and experience in the animal care field as part of the Chicopee Hills team.
