Chicopee Hills Animal Hospital is a proud supporter of the Farley Foundation. In fact, through our fundraising efforts and the generous support of our clients, we have donated $24,000 to the Foundation over the past 6 years. The Foundation was started by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) to assist senior and disabled pet owners obtain veterinary care for their pets. Please visit www.farleyfoundation.com for details about this worthy cause. We are also a proud supporter of the Pet Trust Fund. The Dean’s office at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, administers this fund. The fund provides financial support for research projects geared towards improving the health and well being of companion animals. Please visit www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/friends_supporters/pet_trust.shtm for a full description of projects supported by Pet Trust. We also contribute to our local community through the SafePet Program. This community outreach program was established by the OVMA. It provides temporary housing and veterinary care for the pet(s) of women who wish to leave an abusive situation. We participate by providing temporary housing for these pets and also by educating our clients about the program and the need for foster families. Please visit www.ovma.org (click on SafePet icon) for more information. If you are a woman at risk of abuse and want to know if the program could be of assistance to you, please contact your local women’s shelter as they will coordinate the care of your pet with a local veterinary hospital. If you are a woman seeking safety please call the Assaulted Women’s Helpline 1-888-863-0511 (TTY 1-866-863-7868), or call a local women’s shelter. |
